Tracy’s homeless can only hope things will get better in 2024, as Mayor Pro Tem Eleassia Davis and Councilman Mateo Bedolla cancelled the Tracy Homelessness Advisory Committee’s remaining meetings for this year. The last meeting for the Committee was on October 19th.
The action signals that Davis and Bedolla either a) believe that they’ve done all they can do for the homeless this year, or b) are busy prepping for the holidays, or c) are busy glad handing for their re-election campaigns, or d) All of the Above. (The answer can be found at the bottom of the page.)
Davis, you’ll remember, posted an impassioned response to this publication’s placing the city’s Homeless Shelter failures on her (read here). Below is an excerpt from her post where she claims:
“I bust my behind to protect the interests of the citizens of Tracy every single day. And if anyone doubts that, then you are more than welcome to meet with me face to face, and we can discuss facts like real adults. I will use every moment of my last year in office to protect my community.”
Davis clearly forgot to include the following disclaimer, “…every single day…EXCEPT for the holidays.” You can read her complete post with analysis here.
The hardcore fact is that the Committee, consisting only of Davis and Bedolla, will go at least 75-days without meeting.
Davis needs to invite people facing problems involved in homelessness, both the homeless and local residents suffering from a diminution in the quality of life, to meet face to face and ask them if they feel she is doing everything in her power and in their interest every single day.
Answer key: d) All of the Above
