President of Sandhu-U: College Dropout & Money Laundering Accusations?

May 24, 2022

The President of the University of Silicon Andhra (aka Sandhu-U), Anand Kuchibhotla, is ironically a college dropout. We’re not making this up. In his Linked-In profile, Kuchibhotla lists his secondary education experience as the following:

In one regard, it’s good karma to be honest about dropping out of The Wharton School, which is a really good school. On the other hand, it should give pause to anyone considering writing checks to the University. While the school is a registered nonprofit in California (see below), as is Kuchibhotla’s other affiliated nonprofit, Silicon Andhra, nothing is as perfect as it seems.

With a total student enrollment of 20 students in 2020, the University is clearly not making money off of tuition and fees. However, if the realization that the founder and head of an ‘accredited’ University is a college dropout doesn’t concern you, then perhaps his controversial dealings with a hospital he cofounded in India does.

Charges of money laundering and patient deaths at the Ravi Prakash Silicon Andhra Sanjivani Hospital in Andra Pradesh, India.

Based on information that we came across when looking into Mr. Kuchibhotla’s affiliation with the hospital in Andra Pradesh, he could have used those business classes at Wharton. According to several news articles, the hospital which was built to help serve the poor villages in the area, an investigation was launched after several donors grew concerned about how their donations were being used. As reported by The Hindu, Pamarru MLA K. Anil Kumar was denied access to the hospital with the purpose of, “enquiring about the donations received from the NRIs and the funds spent on hospital infrastructure.” (read full article here). According to Mr, Kumar at the time -

Adya News reported similar alarming developments regarding use of the donations (read full article here).

And in the most alarming report coming from the hospital from the online source - greatandhra.com - one donor died from a lack of care at the hospital (read full article here). According to the article, Prakash and Kuchibhotla went around raising huge donations from people in Kuchipudi, promsing them a “lifetime of free healthcare” by specialist doctors from the U.S. But, according to inquiries from local officials -

It is worth noting that Ravi Prakash was later arrested for his dealings with the TV Little Hearts scandal. We were not able to come across any follow-up developments regarding the hospital scandal and any subsequent investigations, so we can only assume that the investigations continue. None-the-less, we will continue to monitor so long as the University of Silicon Andhra is part of local developer Mike Sandhu’s misleading logistics warehouse development is south Tracy (read more here).

The University of Silicon Andhra is a small, specialized school that serves a particular populous focused on cultural retention and development. As far is it demonstrating any job enrichment and benefits to Tracy, it is, as with most Mike Sandhu proposals, falling short.
