In a breaking story, Politico.com highlights the guilty conviction of Assembly candidate Denise Aguilar Mendez. Read the article can be read here. An excerpt from the article reads:
It continues…
The controversial candidate served 20-days in jail for her crime along with community service. The article also mentions Aguilar’s attending the January 6th, 2021, riot in Washington DC.
Did they know about Aguilar’s conviction before they placed themselves on a ballot ticket with her? Did they know about Aguilar attending the January 6th riots in DC?
In every aspect, it shows poor judgement by Davis and English.
Perhaps they were attracted to Aguilar’s dismissive attitude towards her crimes. It’s reminiscent of Davis’ and English’s dismissiveness to the scathing Grand Jury report that blasted the majority council and another one of their allies – Attorney Bijal Patel. You can read more about that here.
Perhaps they were just too lazy to do their homework.
Perhaps they just don’t care.
Or, even worse, perhaps they think the rules don’t apply to them and their friends.
But welfare fraud? Supporting a candidate that was incarcerated 20 months ago for welfare fraud? That abject bad judgment disqualifies them from serving in public office.
