Eleassia Davis’ Grand Blunder

THE CONSPIRACY THEORY LADEN RESPONSE BY THE MAYOR PRO TEM TO THE CIVIL GRAND JURY REPORT REVEALS DAVIS’ TRUE CHARACTER

Eleassia Davis wants to be Mayor of Tracy, but more than anything she wants Nancy Young to not be Mayor. Davis has made the past two years a personal vendetta against Nancy Young, who Davis feels wronged her in the last mayoral campaign. She found allies with co-conspirator Dan Evans and the hapless Mateo Bedolla. The trio have denied Young’s motions at every turn and even voted to censure her. But Davis’ hatred for Young goes deeper, more personal.

Her response to the San Joaquin County Civil Grand Jury Report illustrates how her obsession with Mayor Nancy Young has gotten dangerous. Davis believes that Young “…undoubtably had an unfair and unjust influence over this investigation…” She rambles on about “whisper” and “shadow campaigns” and “cronyism” and “nepotism” and questions just how far up the political ladder the conspiracy goes. She spends more than two pages on her rant against Young and the injustice of it all and how she wants the FBI involved.

The Civil Grand Jury Report gave Davis an opportunity to show us her leadership qualities. She could have admitted mistakes, demonstrated humility, and laid out her plan to help guide the city back on course. It was a chance to rise above the fray and pettiness. It was a gift given to her during an election year, but that’s not what she did because that’s not who she is.

Davis is not a leader. She lacks leadership qualities. Her response to the Grand Jury shows nothing more than conceit, vengefulness, and delusion.

Instead of leading by example, she took the opportunity at a public hearing to lambast her political “rival” in a written-out response which she read word for word. Her response was not one of passion in the moment during a heated exchange. It was a thought out hit piece. Davis fully believes her own conspiracy theory that Nancy Young is controlling jurors, judges, and everyone in between. If you didn’t know better from Davis’ rant, one would believe that Nancy Young is a mafia boss with people in her pocket.

Need more proof? Below is another example of Eleassia Davis’ character straight from the August 20th hearing –

It doesn’t take a federal investigator to know of whom on council Davis was referring. However, beyond the blatant passive aggressive language used by Davis, the laughable aspect of her statement is that it came after she read her written response to the Grand Jury report in which named Nancy Young directly several times over.

Eleassia Davis takes zero ownership for the discord and disrespect on Tracy City Council or at City Hall. She dismissed all merits of the Grand Jury Report other than to lay all blame on Mayor Nancy Young.

The fact that the majority three on city council – Eleassia Davis, Mateo Bedolla, and Dan Evans – are dismissive of the Civil Grand Jury report is not surprising. Where Tracy City Attorney Bijal Patel goes, they go. As a reminder, these three are the same individuals who gave the city attorney an 8.9% annual retroactive raise after she got her license suspended by the State Bar of California. What is surprising is that Eleassia Davis is so blatant in her disregard for a Civil Grand Jury Report that most people in Tracy find troubling, especially as she’s asking voters to elect her mayor.

With Davis in control of the Tracy City Council for the remainder of this year, taxpayers and voters should keep their expectations low. Very low.

Tracy is all the talk in San Joaquin County and not for the right reasons. The question people most often ask is, “What the hell is happening at City Hall?” It’s a legitimate question given the recent scathing Civil Grand Jury Report which chastised the city council and the controversial Tracy City Attorney Bijal Patel. The report’s findings, although incomplete, were justified.

Over the last 18-months there has been an unprecedented number of city staff departures, the ousting of another City Manager, stonewalling of the business community, verbal attacks by elected officials against citizens speaking at public hearings, Brown Act violations, political backstabbing, childish squabbles, FPPC filings, lawsuits filed, etcetera, etcetera.

Tracy City Hall is a mess, and everyone knows it except those who have control.
