The city has scheduled a very late-noticed Special Meeting for Tuesday night to discuss the city’s response to the San Joaquin County Civil Grand Jury Report (link here) which blasted the city for numerous issues, including several major concerns related to the City Attorney’s office.
The embattled City Attorney Bijal Patel provided the Grand Jury and Tracy taxpayers her summary response to the report’s findings regarding her actions and performance as follows:
Her terse and conceited response is something taxpayers have grown accustomed. Patel believes wholeheartedly that she is better and smarter than everyone in this small Central Valley bedroom community. She’s an educated East Bay elitist lawyer after all who is gracing our community with her mere presence.
For the past year, business owners have been speaking at “Items from the Audience” during council meetings stating the city attorney’s office is not responding to their application issues, etc and can council help.
The City Attorney’s response: She wholly disagrees with this finding.
In fact, you will find it hard for Patel to agree with anything in the Grand Jury report beyond her office being understaffed. The chaos, massive staffing turnover, and in general divisiveness and unpleasantries have nothing to do with her – just ask her.
Patel, if you remember, took the same tack with her failing to renew her license with the State Bar of California that resulted in her license getting suspended for a month. She never admitted doing anything wrong. In fact, she would have never told anyone in the city it happened had it not been brought to light.
This is the greatest insult of all to Tracy taxpayers.
To help understand the corruption happening at Tracy City Hall, one can point to the last second Special Meeting notice given to Tuesday night’s meeting.
The meeting notice came out late Friday afternoon.
Patel and her flock of council members don’t want the public to discuss the Grand Jury report findings more than they have already.
It’s a calculated rush job by the one person who controls the council agendas – Bijal Patel.
All things go before the Tracy City Attorney not the City Manager.
She wants this matter done and over with. She believes that she’s done no wrong. She is leaving it up to council to decide if they feel they’ve done anything wrong or not.
Taxpayers will have wait until November to give their opinion on the matter.
Until then, we’re all just living in Bijal Patel’s world.
